Gene Targeting Project Manager/Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our Gene Targeting (GT) and Genetically Engineered Models (GEM) Department. This department is responsible for developing genetically engineered cell, mouse and rat models, providing technical expertise and managing client’s research projects related to gene targeting and genome editing technology.
Position Summary:
The GT & GEM Department Senior Scientist/Senior Project Manager will be responsible for executing Biocytogen GT external and internal projects and supporting Biocytogen Boston Corp business development with both academic and industrial clients. The successful candidate will be a strategic key member and will leverage a strong background in science with exceptional gene-editing and project/product management skills to help execute the GT & GEM Team function. The ideal candidate should be goal-oriented, disciplined, and have the ability to independently lead and manage projects through GT model production completion, validation and application.
Position responsibilities:
- Targeting strategy design and evaluation on gene-targeting projects for external partners including both academic and industrial clients. Work closely with cross functional team to develop project strategy and ensure that the strategy can be translated into an executable plan
- Support BD/Sales team to engage with the potential clients for their project planning as project manager or study director; Contribute extensively to the lead to the contract conversion process
- Lead gene-targeting projects from detailed design through model production completion and validation
- Manage and proactively plan project activities, work closely with detailed design and production team to ensure multiple project productions flows smoothly
- Summarize and present the updated project status, issues, decisions, etc. clearly and concisely to the clients; Provide technical supports to the clients as needed
- Work with shipping department and clients to ensure the project delivery goes smoothly
- Provide post-sales technical support to the clients as needed
- Work with BD team, engage and follow up with key accounts closely to maintain the long-term partnership
- Design and manage internal model build projects, e.g. humanized mouse models, disease models, characterization and validation
- Prepare summary data for internal discussion and reports to team members, higher-level administrators, and senior leadership as appropriate
Position Qualifications:
- PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, pharmacology, immunology, cancer biology or related field in Biomedical Sciences with minimum 3+ years of academic or biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience
- Extensive relevant research experience using rodent and cell models as evidenced in publications is required
- Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 based gene editing, traditional embryonic stem cell based gene editing is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Solid organization skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Experience in in vitro and in vivo pharmacology and efficacy studies is desirable
- PMP certification is a plus
