Global Knockin
Knockin mouse models introduce mutant or exogenous gene(s) into a specific locus on the mouse genome to mimic genetic diseases or monitor gene expression with reporter genes (e.g. EGFP, mRFP, mCherry, YFP, LacZ, Flag, etc.). The gene reporter mouse models are also used to construct phylogenetic trees for cell development studies. Replacement of the endogenous gene with a reporter can simultaneously achieve gene knockout and knockin in the same mouse model.
