• ADAMTS13 is a metalloproteinase encoded by the ADAMTS13 gene. Its primary function is to cleave von Willebrand factor (VWF). A deficiency in ADAMTS13 can result in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). This dysfunction highlights the enzyme's critical role in preventing microthrombosis by modulating VWF multimer size.

Strain specific analysis of Adamts13 mRNA expression in wild-type C57BL/6 mice and B-Adamts13 KO mice by RT-PCR. Liver RNA were isolated from wild-type C57BL/6 mice (+/+) and homozygous B-Adamts13 KO mice (-/-), then cDNA libraries were synthesized by reverse transcription, followed by PCR with mouse Adamts13 primers.
