The exons 1~5 of mouse Il11 gene that encode the the full-length protein were replaced by human IL11 exons 1~5 in B-hIL11 mice.

Strain specific analysis of IL11 gene expression in WT and hIL11 mice by RT-PCR.
Mouse Il11 mRNA was detectable in splenocytes of wild-type (+/+) and heterozygous B-hIL11 mice (H/+). Human IL11 mRNA was detectable only in heterozygous B-hIL11 mice but not in wild-type mice.

Protein expression analysis

Species-specific IL11 expression analysis in heterozygous B-hIL11 mice. Serum was collected from wild-type C57BL/6 (+/+) and B-hIL11 (H/+) mice and analyzed using a species-specific IL11 ELISA kit. Mouse IL11 expression was detectable in wild-type and heterozygous B-hIL11 mice, while human IL11 expression was exclusively detectable in B-hIL11 (H/+) mice.
