Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, a chemokine which specifically mediates monocyte chemotaxis. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 is involved in monocyte infiltration in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis as well as in the inflammatory response against tumors. The encoded protein mediates agonist-dependent calcium mobilization and inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. This protein can also be a coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection.

Gene targeting strategy for B-hCCR2 mice. The exons 3 of mouse Ccr2 gene that  encode the Full-length protein domain were replaced by human CCR2 exons 2-3 in B-hCCR2 mice.

Protein expression analysis

Strain specific CCR2 expression analysis in heterozygous B-hCCR2 mice by flow cytometry. Bone Marrow were collected from WT and heterozygous B-hCCR2 mice, and analyzed by flow cytometry with species-specific anti-CCR2 antibody. Mouse CCR2 was detectable in WT and heterozygous B-hCCR2 mice. Human CCR2 was exclusively detectable in heterozygous B-hCCR2 but not WT mice.
