Gene targeting strategy for B-hCD163 mice. The exons 1-14 of mouse Cd163 gene that encode the extracellular domain and transmembrane domain were replaced by human CD163 exons 1-14 in B-hCD163 mice.

Protein expression analysis

Species-specific CD163 protein expression analysis in wild-type and humanized B-hCD163 mice. Peritoneal exudate macrophages (PEMs) were isolated from wild-type C57BL/6 (+/+) and homozygous B-hCD163 (H/H) mice and analyzed by flow cytometry using species-specific anti-CD163 antibodies. Murine CD163 protein was detected in wild-type mice, while human CD163 protein was detected in B-hCD163 mice.
