Homozygous knockout mice are viable and fertile. Compared to wild-type mice, FABP4-deficient mice exhibit increased susceptibility to diet-induced obesity.

Scheme for generating RhebADKO mice.The RhebFL/FLmice were crossed with Fabp4-Cremice (Fabp4-Cre micewere purchased from Biocytogen Co.Ltd., Beijing, China) to obtain RhebADKO mice. Rheb was not detected in the interscapular BAT, inguinal and epididymal WAT of RhebADKO mice. Compared to control mice, the interscapular BAT pads of RhebADKO mice were significantly lighter and smaller, while no significant differences were observed in the inguinal and epididymal WAT.
