Basic Information

Strain name
Common name
B-CAG-iCre rats
Stock Number
A CAG-iCre-PolyA sequence cassette was inserted into the ROSAS26 locus of the rat. This strain was maintained on a Sprague Dawley genetic background.
  • Function research of genes
  • This CAGiCre model is an efficient tool to study various gene functions when crossed with rats with different loxP site-flanked genes of interest and non-embryonic death.

In this strain, Cre recombinase expression is under the control of CAG promoter. When crossed with a strain containing a loxP site-flanked sequence of interest, Cre-mediated recombination results in deletion of the floxed sequences in widespread cells or tissues of the offspring.

Gel image of PCR products. PCR products are separated by gel electrophoresis on a 2% agarose gel. PC: samples used for PCR were collected from heterozygous B-CAG-iCre rats; WT: samples used for PCR were collected from wild-type rats; H2O: blank control.
