Common Name
B-Htr2c-iCre mice
Gene symbol and name
Htr2c(5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor 2C), SR1; Htr1; 5HT1c
Background
C57BL/6
NCBI Gene ID

Black
Application
  • Function research of genes
  • This Htr2ciCre model is an efficient tool to study the various gene functions when crossed with mice with different loxP site-flanked genes of interest.
Development
An P2A-iCre sequence cassette was placed between the coding sequence of exon 6 and 3’UTR of the Htr2c gene. This strain was maintained on a C57BL/6 genetic background.

Description

TSerotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), a neurotransmitter, modulating serotonergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system. In this strain, codon optimized Cre recombinase expression is under the control of Htr2c promoter. When crossed with a strain containing a loxP site-flanked sequence of interest, iCre-mediated recombination results in deletion of the flanked sequence in Htr2c expressing cells.

Gene editing strategy

An P2A-iCre sequence cassette was placed between the coding sequence of exon 6 and 3’UTR of the Htr2c gene. This strain was maintained on a C57BL/6 genetic background.

Phenotype analysis

Top: a construct was used to generate CaMPARIloxP/loxP mice.

Bottom: low-and high-magnifications images show CaMPARI expression in Htr2c cells after crossing CaMPARIloxP/loxP mice with Htr2c-Cre mice.
