Basic Information
- Function research of genes
- This Htr2ciCre model is an efficient tool to study the various gene functions when crossed with mice with different loxP site-flanked genes of interest.
An P2A-iCre sequence cassette was placed between the coding sequence of exon 6 and 3’UTR of the Htr2c gene. This strain was maintained on a C57BL/6 genetic background.
Description
TSerotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), a neurotransmitter, modulating serotonergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system. In this strain, codon optimized Cre recombinase expression is under the control of Htr2c promoter. When crossed with a strain containing a loxP site-flanked sequence of interest, iCre-mediated recombination results in deletion of the flanked sequence in Htr2c expressing cells.
